SE Region AGM Chairs Report

Report of the South East Regional Committee for period 27/9/06 – 23/4/08

  1. This AGM should have been held in March 2008 but because of a change of committee secretary in February 2008 and an oversight in the handover the planned AGM on 5 March, following the regular quarterly committee meeting, did not take place.

  1. The committee has held 6 quarterly meetings since the last AGM in September 2006. To date they have all been held at Edinburgh House Kennington SE1 (Metropolitan Police premises) as it is felt London is a central location with excellent transport links. There is regular regional representation from the committee to national fora including the national executive, marketing group, the road-shows and the national conference planning steering group. The planning and preparation for regional seminars is also a key activity.

  1. Three regional seminar events have been held over the past 19 months.
  • September 2006 at the Met Police Communications Centre Lambeth SE1
  • February 2007 at Intergraph’s HQ Swindon. This was joint exercise with our colleagues in the South West Region. The theme was Mobile data
  • November 2007 at the London Fire Brigade’s Training Centre in Southwark SE1. The theme was VOIP

All seminars have been well attended with numbers over 40 at each event; this has included a range of users and a good cross section of suppliers. As well as providing interesting and current topics for discussion good opportunities have existed for networking.

  1. Membership is healthy with numbers currently sitting at 391 with a broad range of users and suppliers represented. This is a rise from the 360/370 figure we had about 18 months ago
