 The Objectives of British APCO are:-

To promote and assist with the development of effective and efficient communication and information technologies, to support the work of emergency responders , for the benefit of public safety and to enhance community resilience.

To establish and maintain an effective and constructive relationship with the communication and information technology sector, for the benefit of emergency responders and, to improve public safety and community resilience.

To engage with and support national and international bodies having an interest in or having a responsibility for the provision of standards, codes of practice, policy and other initiatives that will improve public safety and community resilience.

To provide a route and a platform to initiate or participate in research projects that will result in setting direction to provide solutions to improve public safety and community resilience.

To represent the views of its members to professional bodies, Government representatives, public safety agencies and other bodies and, to the commercial sector.

To act as a source for information and advice for its members and to those with a responsibility for enhancing public safety.

  • Delegate Registration for the British APCO 2012 Development Sessions is now live! -

    The new format will deliver high level sessions and debate from key players in the industry as well as informed opinion from external sources. The Director of IT for Tesco will deliver a session on cost savings with new ITS installations, and Jamie Bartlett of the Guardian newspaper will present a view on how extremists use social media.

  • MPs say Government must do more to keep public safe online -

    Malicious software - designed to infect computers to steal bank details and identity information - poses a growing threat in the UK as more people use the internet and an increasing proportion of economic activity takes place online. MPs on the Science and Technology Select Committee say the Government must do more to help the public understand how to stay safe online.

  • TETRA World Congress 2012 -

    The busy agenda for the TETRA World Congress 2012 is currently under development and taking shape. The programme will incorporate many new conference features, including interviews, debates, innovative networking options and social events.

Membership of British APCO is open to all persons in the United Kingdom, the Channel Isles, Isle of Man and Ireland who are associated with the provision, maintenance, and use (managers, engineers, programmers, communications operators, end users, suppliers consultants) of civil contingencies communications and information systems.
