Structure
The Association is not a trade association, union, or political action group but is an ethical forum through which a body of professionals can provide support and advice to public safety and civil contingencies policy making authorities.
British APCO is an association of users and industry sharing information and ideas for the common purpose of providing efficient and effective communications and supporting information technology for public safety civil contingencies community.
The Governing Body of the Association is the Membership meeting at an Annual General Meeting held in conjunction with the Annual Exhibition.
At all other times, the Executive Committee is responsible for the management of the Association’s affairs. The members of the Executive Committee are:
- The Elected President (Currently See Who’s Who page)
- The Elected Vice President (Currently See Who’s Who page)
- Immediate Past President (Currently See Who’s Who page)
- A representative from each of the British APCO Regions (See region section)
- A representative of the Commercial Advisory Group (Currently See Who’s Who page)
- and co-opted representatives from the following organisations:
- Ambulance Service Network (ASN)
- Chief Fire Officers’ Association (CFOA)
- Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO)

A structure of separately responsible Regional Committees based on geographical areas in the UK has been established to provide a network of educational opportunities. These regions are the ‘engine’ that provides the drive to make the Association successful.
The whole organisation is supported by an ExecutiveDirector, Administration Manager and other staff.
