APD launches new brand and Asia push at global critical comms showcase

Pioneering software business APD Communications is revealing its new brand at the flagship Critical Communications World as part of a strategy to grow into Asia.
APD has secured a prominent presence at Critical Communications World 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, which will attract at least 2,000 critical communications professionals from around the globe.
Critical Communications World is the flagship event of The Critical Communications Association, which represents organisations involved in the design, development and deployment of critical communications systems and software worldwide.
Critical Communications World is being held from Tuesday, 18 June, to Thursday, 20 June, at the spectacular, purpose-built Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre.
APD, which creates cutting-edge software used in emergency services and critical control operations, is using the platform presented by Critical Communications World to build on its ever-growing international presence and make inroads into fast-growing Asian markets.
APD is also using the event to reveal a new brand, which aligns its visual identity with that of its ultimate parent company, NEC Corporation, a global provider of technology that improves lives, protects society and enhances communities.
The new brand also aligns with Northgate Public Services (NPS) a wholly-owned NEC Corporation company, which acquired APD earlier this year, as it features three dots above the APD name which represent the dot in the “i” in each of the NPS values – intelligent, innovative and integrated.
Critical Communications World has been running at venues across the world for more than 20 years. It brings together the international critical communications community and acts as a high-profile showcase for the latest technological innovations.
UK-based APD has an ever-growing international presence and reputation, with customers including Dubai Airport – the world’s busiest international passenger airport with 77m passengers annually – where APD’s integrated control room solution keeps the entire operation safe, secure and running efficiently.
APD is also working with a number of other customers in the United Arab Emirates and other states in the Middle East to deliver innovative control room solutions. Now it is targeting opportunities in Asia where nations are investing significantly in their emergency services and critical communications infrastructure.

The APD team at the event will include Software Specialist Declan Whiting, who has been shortlisted for the Young Engineer Award in the International Critical Communications Awards 2019, which are held during Critical Communications World.
The awards are regarded as the most sought after in the field of critical communications and Declan is vying for the Young Engineer prize with two rising stars each from industry leaders Motorola Solutions and Sepura.
At just 26, Declan is playing an integral part in transforming the critical communications market through directly engineering the very latest solutions for emergency services’ critical communications networks.
He is a key part of the team responsible for developing Cortex, APD’s revolutionary control room Integrated Communication Control System (ICCS) which enables the emergency services to integrate communications. Declan is also working on LTE, the Long-Term Evolution of the UK’s Emergency Services Network, building client-side services from scratch, which will perform on the new network once it’s ready to be rolled out.
Declan, who joined APD in 2017 after graduating with a first-class degree in Computer Science from the University of Hull, said he was proud to represent APD in the world’s most prestigious critical communications awards.
