Artificial Intelligence is set to take centre court in Wimbledon coverage this year

Ahead of the opening of Wimbledon today, we thought tennis and tech enthusiasts would be interested in the following snippet...

Wimbledon and its digital partner IBM's artificial intelligence (AI) systems will use crowd noise, player actions, such as fist pumping and shaking hands, and match data to automatically edit highlights packages for broadcast online and across social media channels.

Using AI, IBM aims to edit top action from the six main show courts within five to ten minutes - a process which, without the technology, would take hours.
