What is the #BHF100K?

Start the year on the right foot by covering 100 kilometres running, walking, swimming, cycling, moonwalking – any way that you and your colleagues want! The #BHF100K will give you weekly challenges that you can take part in, as well as health updates on our Just Giving and Strava pages, all whilst supporting the fight against heart and circulatory diseases.

Click here to set up your Just Giving page (click on the orange start fundraising button) and aim to raise at least £100 per participant for the British Heart Foundation.

Click here to join the #BHF100K Strava community. Be sure to share photos of where you are, how you’re progressing and encourage others to join the challenge on social media!

Get out there

Wrap up and get your heart pumping! Regular activity can lower the risk of developing heart and circulatory disease by up to 35%. That’s not all. It has also been proven to control weight, reduce blood pressure and cholesterol and improve your mental health. Look here for more insight on why you should get active.

Andrea’s #BHF100K

Andrea Catley’s daughter suffered a heart attack on Boxing Day 2019, and the following Easter her fiancé was also rushed to hospital with atrial fibrillation. Andrea was inspired to change her lifestyle, started jogging, and subsequently joined the #BHF100K challenge. She personally raised a tremendous £3,500, which was the most by any individual taking part.

Help us raise £100K by covering 100K

£100,000 could help to fund a PhD student’s grant and their research for three years: your support could fund the next generation of cardiovascular researchers on their path to becoming world class scientists of the future.

What do you get out of it?

Not only are your team getting healthier, but you are empowering the fight against heart and circulatory diseases. Across the UK, one in four people die from these diseases and/or more than half will develop them in their lifetime. In addition, you will:

  • Have a dedicated account manager to motivate you and keep you on track
  • Have brilliant team building and competitive challenge that can be completed outside of working hours.
  • Have a team that feels valued as you support their health and wellbeing
  • Weekly challenges to complete while clocking up mileageBe connected to the #BHF100k community on StravaExpand your networks into the local business community
  • Receive heart health information
  • Help fund lifesaving research

“By encouraging as many people as possible to get outside and exercise, it creates a culture of kudos, team spirit, and give us all a focus in such a challenging time.”

About the British Heart Foundation

More than 1 in 4 of us still die from heart and circulatory diseases in the UK. And nearly a million people are living with the life changing effects of heart failure.

By funding research across six decades, BHF have helped keep millions of hearts beating and millions of families together. From heart transplants and pacemakers to pioneering surgeries, they’ve had a hand in breakthroughs that have transformed our world.

They fund over £100 million of research each year into all heart and circulatory diseases and the things that cause them. Heart diseases. Stroke. Vascular dementia. Diabetes. They're all connected, and they're all under their microscope.
