Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials, Canada

The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials, Canada, Inc. is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the enhancement of public safety communications. It serves the people who supply, install and operate the Emergency Communications Systems used around the Country from coast to coast to coast. Members come from every type of public safety organisation in the country, including 9-1-1, police, fire and emergency medical services as well as emergency management, disaster planning and federal search and rescue personnel.

Our Vision: APCO Canada strives to be the voice of public safety communications in Canada.

Mission: APCO Canada will represent and advance the national interests and professionalism of Public Safety Communications.

British APCO

Launched in June 1993 as the British Association of Public Safety Communications Officials, British APCO, also known as BAPCO, is now acknowledged as the leading UK based Association for all professionals using or developing Public Safety technology.

British APCO is a growing community with extensive knowledge in Public Safety technology as a result of our members' use and delivery of real life public safety solutions. We are an independent, user led, not for profit association working to improve emergency services and public safety communications and information technology for everybody’s benefit.

European Emergency Number Association (EENA)

EENA’s mission is to contribute to improving the safety and security of people. How can citizens get the best help possible if they find themselves in an emergency? This is the question we continuously try to answer. Today, the EENA members include 1500+ emergency services representatives from over 80 countries world-wide, 100+ solution providers, 15 international organisations, 200+ Members of the European Parliament and 100+ researchers.

National Emergency Communications Working Group - Australia / New Zealand, (NECWG-A/NZ)

The National Emergency Communications Working Group – A/NZ (NECWG–A/NZ) has existed since 1995 at which time emergency communications organisations established a forum in which to discuss coordination of cross jurisdiction response and develop collective positions in relation to emergency communications issues such as calls from SIMless mobile phones as well as emerging technical developments such as Voice over IP (VoIP).

The NECWG- A/NZ is a representative and influential public safety body focussed on:

  • Identifying strategic and aligned solutions to common problems aimed at improving outcomes for community and optimised emergency communications services in Australia and New Zealand.
  • A sharing and collaborative approach capitalising on the expertise and strength of the collective group.
  • Being recognised as informed and respected professionals of the Emergency Call Services (ECS) and leaders in the sector of emergency communications.
  • Continuing education and communication of emergency communications services across the sector and the community.

The National Emergency Number Association (NENA) improves 9-1-1 through research, standards development, training, education, outreach, and advocacy. Our vision is a public made safer and more secure through universally-available state-of-the-art 9-1-1 systems and better-trained 9-1-1 professionals.

The Organization of American States
