Our Mission

British APCO’s Mission Statement

  • Provide a forum for professionals in the field of public safety technology, to exchange information, ideas and experiences.
  • Maintain regular liaison with suppliers and other commercial bodies, such as consultants, to monitor developments in technology, new techniques and major programmes.
  • Develop and improve cross-agency (and cross-sector, e.g. transport and utilities with emergency and other services) awareness, interaction, interoperability and knowledge-exchange. We offer the impartial and independent voice that only British APCO can deliver.
  • Influence and drive awareness of what's happening with policies, standards and major programmes.
  • Preserve an influential relationship and foster informed debate with a range of agencies and organisations, British APCO is able to influence UK and EU public safety communications issues.
  • Support our members by offering wide ranging benefits and opportunities for all.
  • Connect with our members via all available communication platforms.

Strategic Goals

  • Collaborate with members through the Board and Executive Committee.
  • Collaborate with emergency and non-emergency public safety services, suppliers, technologists and related government offices both within the UK and other EU member states to influence the future development of public safety communications.
  • Produce a quarterly BAPCO Journal to provide our members with a valuable insight into what's happening across the public safety communications world.
  • Organise and deliver high quality and relevant events for our sector.
  • Be a platform to discuss public safety communications and provide a supportive network for transfer of knowledge in the public safety/civil contingencies services.
  • Provide social networks to support communication and engagement strategies.
