Who We Are

Our Mission and Our People

British APCO, founded in 1993, stands as the UK’s premier association for public safety communications professionals - uniting experts from policing, fire, ambulance services, academia, and industry suppliers under a single collaborative banner.

Our Mission, Vision and Values

OUR MISSION

Together, we educate, advocate, and innovate to improve public safety.

OUR VISION

Connecting the emergency services, commercial organisations, and academia, using information technology to achieve an emergency response for the public that is world leading.

OUR VALUES

As a charity we actively support and encourage a culture of innovation, where people can be creative and explore new opportunities for the public safety profession and British APCO members.

We foster a communicative, inclusive, trust-based environment where individuals’ skills, expertise and ideas are respected and genuinely received.

Integrity is critical: Members and partners trust us because we are credible and accountable for our decisions and actions.

Collaboration is central to our success, and we welcome constructive cooperation between British APCO and its partners and amongst the British APCO membership.

At British APCO we are proud to work with a number of different organisations with similar aims and objectives as us.  We are keen to work with partners who can help us to improve Public Safety through communications and information technology whenever and wherever possible. Find out more on Our Partners page.

Public safety organisations representing members in, Canada, the European Union, United Kingdom, and the United States signed a first-of-its-kind agreement on 4th November 2019 to work together to improve the emergency communications systems that serve nearly one billion people worldwide.  The result was a group of like-minded organisations known as the Collaborative Coalition for International Public Safety CC:IPS.  Take a look here to find out more about CC:IPS as well as take a look at their resources.

Our Charity Partner

Every couple of years our members help choose our charity partner.

Together with our current charity partner, Alzheimer’s Society, we work toward a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We achieve this by providing help to those living with dementia today and offering hope for the future. Read more about our current Charity Partner and visit the Alzheimer's Society page to find out how you can contribute to the society.
