British APCO Corporate Member HAAS Alert has officially launched its first European deployment of Safety Cloud® in partnership with Škoda Auto. This is a really important development – and will help alert drivers to approaching ambulances on “blue lights”. So a benefit not only to the vehicle driver but, more importantly, the emergency service vehicle trying to get to an incident or to a hospital without delay.
-------------
Škoda is now the first European automotive manufacturer to integrate Safety Cloud’s real-time Emergency Vehicle Alerts into their vehicles, with the service now live across Europe. This milestone marks a significant step in bringing our mission of safer, smarter roads to a global audience.
What this means:
Škoda drivers will now receive real-time alerts when ambulances are approaching - the first type of emergency vehicle alert to go live in Europe. This capability will soon expand: in the coming weeks, additional alerts for fire trucks, police vehicles, and other blue light services will begin rolling out, followed by amber light vehicle alerts and hazards such as for tow trucks, rescue and recovery patrols and highway maintenance vehicles.
The alerts are automatically available on all Škoda vehicles equipped with Škoda Connect, and can also be added via the in-car Shop on compatible MY2019 and newer models.
Why it matters:
This launch not only brings life-saving digital alerts to European drivers, it also signals a broader shift underway in the global automotive industry. Škoda is the first of several European automakers preparing to integrate Safety Cloud, with more partners expected to go live soon. The growing adoption of connected safety technology reinforces Safety Cloud’s role as the go-to V2X platform for forward-thinking manufacturers looking to enhance driver awareness and road safety at scale.
