Public Safety & First Responder Organisations

British APCO has members representing, amongst others, the following agencies - and we are always looking for more representatives from across the user community...

On occassion, we are asked to define who we include within “Public Safety & First Responder Organisations” - for British APCO, this means those agencies or departments of central or local government, which provide services concerned with:

• Emergency call handling
• Law enforcement
• Fire and emergency rescue
• Medical and ambulance services
• Civil resilience responders
• Emergency management and related activities that provide services to the public in an emergency or disaster situation
• Bona fide volunteer aid organisations recognised as such with support or endorsement by central or local government

Commercial Membership is for an individual employed as a provider of goods and services to the Public Safety community. 

One or more individuals within an organisation can have Commercial Membership - or you could be someone who is either employed or self-employed in commercial activities and business, developing or producing communications and information technology solutions, or advising/providing consultation and/or advisory services on such.

We want to be clear that if you are employed in consultancy, IT advisory, or are a contractor to the public sector (including government departments) then Commercial Membership is the correct category.

Becoming an academic member of British APCO enables you to be part of a growing community of public safety technology and communications professionals dedicated to improving public safety.  As part of our community you can access our network of specialists, users, suppliers and regulators to ensure that you can access vital current information on issues such as Airwave, ESN, MAIT, eCall and much much more.

Academic membership is relevant to those studying degrees or researching in fields such as Public Safety & Security, Policing, Policing & Criminal Justice Studies, Police Sciences and Criminology & Police Studies.  However, it is relevant to all degree programmes and research areas with an element of Public Safety or Technology (e.g. Computer Sciences, Sociology, Geography, Psychology etc.).

Membership is free and we look forward to welcoming you to our ever evolving and advancing Association!

At British APCO we welcome those who have retired to continue to particpate in membership of our Association - and through the Journal and our regular newsletters it will allow you to keep in touch.  Membership for Retired Public Safety Professionals is FREE.
