Hexagon AB announced on April 17th in Stockholm an agreement to acquire the Unified Communications Radio Suite (UCRS) software assets of CONET Communications GmbH (CCOM), part of CONET Group, to complement its public safety platform.
UCRS provides control rooms and command centres with a communication dispatch solution which integrates several diverse channels from PBX and mobile telephone networks to digital radio standards including TETRA, P25, DMR and analogue radio, PTT (including PTT over LTE) as well as geographic and business information systems, public address systems, video surveillance (CCTV), video conferencing and satellite communication infrastructures.
Here in the UK this will provide Hexagon with ICCS functionality (Integrated Communication Control System) to sit alongside their current and next generation Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems – and which has the potential to support connectivity to both Airwave and, in the future, the Emergency Services Network (ESN).
“Seamless communication is an essential part of emergency response. Public safety agencies must be able to communicate with responders in a variety of ways, making the addition of CCOM’s product suite a natural extension of Hexagon’s technology stack,” said Norbert Hanke, interim President and CEO, Hexagon. “This acquisition strengthens our ability to serve public safety customers today while accelerating innovation for the future.”
